Augustana’s David Lee, along with North Central’s Stewart Charles and Joe Antonacci were named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Players of the Week Monday.
Lee, a sophomore quarterback from Springfield, Ill., and Springfield High School, completed 25 of 34 passes for 422 yards and two touchdowns as Augustana defeated Millikin 42-13 on Saturday. Lee also scored a pair of rushing touchdowns in the game as he helped the Vikings finish the season with a 6-4 overall record and a 4-3 mark in the CCIW. For the second week in a row, Lee supplanted former NFL MVP Ken Anderson in the school’s record book. After breaking Anderson’s single-game record for completions last week, Lee’s 422 passing yards broke the previous record of 410, set by Anderson against North Park on November 2, 1968.
Charles, a sophomore defensive back from Batavia, Ill., and Batavia High School, posted a career-high 11 tackles (10 solo) in a 49-24 win over Elmhurst on Saturday that clinched a share of the CCIW title for North Central. He also finished with two tackles for loss, one quarterback sack, and broke up three passes en route to the victory. Charles is an Economics major.
Antonacci, a sophomore wide receiver from Naperville, Ill., and Neuqua Valley High School, finished with 180 return yards in North Central’s win over Elmhurst, returning five punts for 65 yards (13.0 yards per return) and two kickoffs for 115 yards. Antonacci returned a first-quarter kickoff 81 yards to the Bluejays’ 16-yard line, leading to a North Central score on the next play. He is a Finance major.
